So I know it’s been quiet here for a couple of months but I promise it will change, as well as some other things around the blog but that’s later. It’s been a busy couple of months, in preparation for a missions trip I will be going on with my churches missions team to Guatemala. Since it is Throwback Thursday I decided to do a throwback post of my first missions trip.
It’s been 6 years since my last missions trip, which also happens to be the first one I went on. It was such an amazing experience, one that I’ll never forget. Unfortunately, after that first one circumstances and just life got in the way of me attending the 3 missions trip after. I always stayed part of the team and stayed behind to pray and support them, which was always a blessing but I’m ecstatic to be actually going this year. I will also be celebrating my 29th birthday while I’m there, so to say it’ll be a blessed birthday is an understatement.

Today’s girl crush may not be a recognized face, she is not a celebrity in the way we know it but she is a celebrity to me. Katie Davis is a beautiful young girl who decided to give a year of her life and ended up giving up everything she knew to be familiar to stay in Africa and adopt 14 young girls and start an organization which funds over 300 kids a year to go to school, feed local communities as well as provide as much care to everyone around her as possible. I just finished reading her book Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption which is a combination of excerpts from her Blog and pages from her journal, it told the story of her journey from visiting an orphanage for 3 weeks and then deciding to stay for a year after high school and then end up calling Uganda her home. Shes absolutely breathtaking in every since of the word.
Last weekend was a pretty packed one, Friday me and the roomie made dinner for her parents, she made a delish mushroom risotto and coleslaw and I made my newly famous ribs Saturday we had breakfast with beautiful women in our family for mother’s day and I had a friends birthday BBQ during the day (I was also able to also spend time with cute little pup Red at the picnic) and then Danny’s Birthday Dinner at night at Carmines, Jenny was ready to go into labor that night but no luck, yesterday they welcomed their beautiful baby boy Evan into the world my congrats to new parents, the Suso’s.
As mentioned before, Saturday would’ve been my fathers 50th birthday. I had a tattoo in mind for quite some time and wanted to do it on a special day. So Saturday I went my familia (Brother & Cousin) and 2 awesome friends (Jess & Alex) to finally get inked.
I had a card that my father had written to me for one of my birthdays and I wanted to get his handwriting tattooed. We went to Green Machine Tattoos and James did an awesome job. I was fortunate enough that he had someone cancel on him and was able to do my tattoo because when I called he was booked until May and I wanted him to do it since he had done 3 of my brothers tattoos and was highly recommended. Originally I was looking at doing it on my wrist but because of the size and the detail in the writing he suggested I choose another spot and I couldn’t be happier.
I am so happy with how it turned out. I love that I have this reminder with me everyday!
“Te Amo Mucho”
(For my nonspanish speakers: I love you very much)
Me & the fam, my brother and my cousin ♥Still needs to heal but here’s a picture
Spent most of the weekend with my cousin reminiscing about all the good memories and I’m happy I was able to share that experience with my fam and wonderful friends.
♥ I’m blessed ♥
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well.
